Gilas Pilipinas showed character in another epic showdown in Lebanon. Gilas Pilipinas and Iraq went hard against each other and played hard defense with no teams scoring more than 20 points in each quarter of the first half. Defense was the name of the game as both participants struggled to put on a scoring parade against each other.

Gilas Pilipinas had an ugly 2-point FG shooting in the first half with 21.05 FG percentage against 45% of Iraq. Iraq who loves to shoot threes also had a bad shooting night with 12%(2/16) shooting from outside the arc. Gollaway tops Iraq with 15 points in the half while Matthew Wright carried the scoring load in the first half for the Philippines with 8 hard earned points.

3rd Quarter Good Offense and Better Defense for Gilas Pilipinas

3rd quarter was a different story for the Philippine team as they finally found the mark scoring 28 points in the 3rd quarter. But it wasn't the real story of the quarter as Qatar was held down to just 9 points that spelled defeat for the Iraqis.

Qatar equaled the scoring output of Gilas in the fourth with 28 but the Philippine team could not be stopped on the other end as they continued to hit the mark ending the last quarter with the score of 84-68.

Standhardinger provided consistent scoring with 16 points. Romeo came to life in the fourth and punched in a total of 17.

Gilas Pilipinas shooting percentage was at 37%, a far cry from their first game.

Gilas Pilipinas scoring leaders:

Romeo = 17
Standhardinger= 16
Cruz = 11
Pogoy = 9
Norwood = 8
Wright = 8
