Kawhi Leonard took the podium for the Toronto Raptors' camp opening and shut down all questions regarding the NBA's investigation into his former team. Following Steve Ballmer's suspension and the Clippers' forfeiture of draft assets, Leonard made it crystal clear his eyes are strictly on Canada.
"I'm not talking about any of that, I'm here to move forward and play basketball for Toronto," Leonard told reporters when pressed on the salary-cap tampering probe. Leonard officially inked a two-year, $115 million extension with Toronto that keeps him under contract through 2028-29. Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic plans to manage Leonard's load during the preseason, holding him out of back-to-backs while pairing him with Scottie Barnes. Toronto opens its exhibition schedule against Miami in Quebec City on October 3, where Leonard is slated to play roughly 15 ceremonial minutes. The franchise is treating Leonard's return as a cultural reset after navigating a transition year.
