The Philippines' boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao returned to Manila on Saturday following his successful World Boxing Organization (WBO) title defense last May 7.

The Fighter of the Decade, accompanied by his wife Jinkee and several members of his team, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 6:35 a.m.

He was given a grand welcome at the airport by his family and supporters.

Pacquiao, who retained his WBO welterweight crown by beating former world champion Shane Mosley, was happy to be back in the Philippines to be with his children.

Pacquiao and his family proceeded to a hotel in Makati City for a few hours of rest.

Pacquiao’s chief of staff, Jake Joson, said the boxing champion and Sarangani representative will be attending Mass at the Quiapo Church in Manila on Saturday.

The pound-for-pound champion is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Benigno Aquino III in Malacañang.

Pacquiao said he will give the yellow gloves he used in the Mosley bout to President Aquino.

Pacquiao is expected to go to General Santos City this weekend for his mother's 62nd birthday celebration.

Steroid use

Pacquiao also shrugged off rumors spreading in the internet about his supposed “steroid use.”

"Hindi totoo iyan. May drug test naman before at after ng laban. Patunayan nila muna," Pacquiao told radio dzMM on Saturday.

Pacquiao‘s adviser Michael Koncz earlier branded the rumor as absurd, citing the fact that the boxing champion hasn’t had a Filipino sparring partner since he started fighting in the US.

If you can show me a Filipino sparring partner we had, then it would put some credence to the story, but we’ve never had one. It's totally absurd story, we're not even going to respond,” said Koncz.

The rumor started from an internet report quoting an alleged “Filipino sparring partner” who claimed to have injected Pacquiao with steroids before his fight against Oscar de la Hoya.

The rumor was picked up by Shane Mosley, who spread the news through his Twitter account.

Pacquiao, however, had only kind words for Mosley.

"Si Mosley may pinag-aralan at mabait na tao. Bilib ako kay Mosley," he said.

Pacquiao said the rumored fight against Juan Manuel Marquez will be interesting. However, Pacquiao said details of the match have not yet been finalized. -- With a report from Rod Izon, radio dzMM
