Bringing back the basketball fever in the Philippines with Kobe Bryant

The Philippines is still a basketball Nation. In recent years however sports like boxing dominated the airways because of the likes of Manny Pacquio and Nonito Donaire. Basketball was sidelined for the moment and Filipinos cheered our Pugilist. Just this year another sport is trying to breakout in the Philippines as the Philippine National Soccer Team "Azkals" continues to impress Filipino Sports fans with their good  looks and winning streaks. Basketball is on the brink of being replace as the number one sports in the Philippines.

The effort of the PBA one of the premier basketball league in Asia and The Philippine National Basketball team "Smart Gilas" to continue with the legacy to keep basketball as the number one sports in the Philippines seems far fetch as they struggles with TV ratings and loosing fans base.

It will take more than the usual routine to regain its fans. 

Although there are still a lot of people who follows basketball it is nothing compared to the heyday of basketball back when your dad or grandpa can still play.

So when one the best basketball player on the planet visit the Philippines you can expect a lot of basketball fans to reemerge and reignite the basketball fever. The much needed help of basketball arrived.

With thousands of fans desperately wanting to see Kobe Bryant, basketball got its much needed boost. Although this is not the first time that Kobe Bryant visited Manila, Philippines, this year is quite especial.

Kobe Bryant visited the Nike store in Taguig then later the famous Araneta dome to play  pick up game with the local college players and the Philippine National squad.

It was an exciting moment but that's not it Kobe Bryant will return next week together with some of his NBA buddies like Chris Paul, Tyreke Evans, James Harden, DeAndre Jordan and Derrick Williams to play another exhibition game. 

Basketball fever in the Philippines is back thanks to the NBA lock out.
