The Flash is back! After an impressive show against tough Cesar Juarez of Mexico to win the WBO super bantamweight title, Nonito is back and he is again a hot commodity in boxing. He is a world champion oand we think he still got the skills and the power plus an improved decision making inside the ring.
Donaire who is enjoying a 3 fight winning streak could be defending his title in front of his hometown the Philippines. You read that right. Unlike Manny Pacquiao who we may never see again fight in our homeland because of course, there's just more money outside. Nonito's case is different.
We heard that broadcasting giant ABS-CBN, Top Rank and local boxing promotion ALA, recently agreed to a partnership that would bring in big fights to the Philippines including one with Nonito Donaire who has also signed a 3 fight deal with Bob Arum’s Top Rank according to our sources.
Bob Arum is planning to host an event April 2016 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for Donaire’s first title defense for the WBO Super Bantamweight title.
His potential opponent?
El Ruso Mexicano, the Russian Mexican is on the top of the list of potential challengers for Donaire’s belt. Evgeny Gradovich is a 29-year-old, 5’8 fighter with a record of 21 -1 -1 can be a tough match-up for Donaire. This guy is sleek and a tactical fighter like Rigondeaux. Remember that Rigondeaux once beat Donaire in a chess match.
Donaire is still in the Philippines but could stay here until the fight to train if the negotiations with Gradovich would push through.
