Ginebra Demolish Meralco, Boost Chance for Twice-To-Beat Advantage

Smart Araneta Coliseum - The Barangay Ginebra demolished the no. 1 seed Meralco Bolts, 103-90, and boosts their chance for twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

It was all Ginebra since the start of the game. Ginebra used its tight defense again to defeat the Meralco Bolts. After a lopsided win against the San Miguel Beermen, Ginebra won their second straight game with a double digit margin against the top seeded teams.

It was all Barangay Ginebra since the start of the game until the final buzzer. Their solid defense was the key of the game, limiting the Meralco's guards, declining to find their rhythm.

Seven Ginebra players scored in double figures led by Greg Slaughter's 21 points while L.A. Tenorio finished the game with 20 points and 3 assists and was named best player of the game.

Rookie Chris Newsome led the Bolts with 23 points in a losing effort while import Arinze Onuaku was limited to 10 points (his lowest this conference) and 14 rebounds.

Ginebra finished the regular season with 7-4 record while the Meralco Bolts (assured of twice to beat advantage) dropped to 8-3.

Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters need to defeat the San Miguel Beermen while NLEX Road Warriors must win against the Alaska Aces in order for Ginebra to clinch the twice to beat advantage.
