With the Association's 2015-16 regular season finally ended,
it is time to give the individual awards. First, let’s analyze who will be the
2015 – 2016 Regular Season MVP.
Candidates:
Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs),
LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers),
Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunders) & Kevin Durant (Oklahoma
City Thunders)
There’s only 11 players in the NBA history have claimed
consecutive MVP Awards, and Curry’s a shoe-in to be the 12th. The
Warriors lethal point guard has established himself as one of the best shooter
have ever played in NBA. He hits 402 3 point shots in the regular season alone,
he not just passed his own record, he set a record that I think no one can
surpass for the next 20 years other than himself. He also led the league in
points per game, steals per game, free throw percentage and efficiency rating.
He will be soon a member of 90/40/50 club. And they are in the brink of breaking
the 72 – 10 season record of 95’ – 96’ Bulls.
Let’s go to the best duo so far in the league, Russell
Westbrook and Kevin Durant. Westbrook is having his best season so far,
registering a league leading 18 triple doubles. He is also 2nd in
assist while his partner, Durant is having his usual numbers every game (28.2
points, 8.2 rebounds, 5 assists). My
only problem with him is who will handle the ball during crunch time, Westbrook
or Durant? Hmmmm…..
Soon to be retired Tim Duncan finally passes the torch to
Kawhi Leonard; And Kawhi is having one of a hell season so far. Ranking 3rd
in 3 point percentage, while averaging 21.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.6
assists per game. Addition to that, he also in one of the leading contender for
the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Finally, Lebron James. He is averaging another stellar stat
line every day, 25.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game while
leading the Cavs to notch the top seed in Eastern Conference.
Prediction:
This is going to be a unanimous decision in favor of Stephen Curry, first time in NBA
history.
