The
Maurice Podoloff trophy, better known as the NBA Regular season Most Valuable Player
(MVP) award, is considered to be one of the most prestigious recognitions in
the world of basketball and can actually be one of the barometers of a player’s
greatness in the game.
Kareem
Abdul-Jabbar holds the record for the most number of Maurice Podoloff trophies
with six, followed by His Airness Michael Jordan and Bill Russell with five
each. Lebron James already has four in his career, while Magic Johnson, Larry
Bird, and Moses Malone have three each. Karl Malone, Tim Duncan, and Steve Nash
have two, while Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose have won
one each.
Unlike
last year where there was a virtual four-way tight race that include Stephen
Curry, James Harden, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, this year’s race is
definitely going to one player—in dominating fashion. The Golden State Warriors
is riding on a crest of making history, repeating or maybe even surpassing that
of the Chicago Bulls’ 72-10 best record in NBA history. Coming off with that
historic chase is its reigning MVP Stephen Curry who is the juggernaut favorite
to win another MVP award this season. Let us take a peek at some young sports

Kevin Durant. The former MVP before Curry, deserves
to be the MVP this year. After being limited to just 27 games last season due
to a Jones fracture, he carried his Thunder to where they are now, sitting
pretty behind the shadows of Golden State and San Antonio. Durant maintained his pace by averaging 27.7
points and 7.9 rebounds to go along with 4.5 assists per game. This is KD’s comeback season and everyone
knows that KD can deliver what Steph can deliver. This is his MVP campaign, the
season is far from over with at least 24 more games to come, he can still prove
more. That is why Kevin Durant is still my NBA regular season MVP.

Stephen Curry is my season MVP because once again,
he took NBA by storm through his outrageous shot selections and 3-pointers that
are beyond the limit of an average basketball player. He once again proved that
he is one of the greatest offensive players of all time. Curry also carried his
team at the peak of breaking an NBA record for most wins in a season. With all
of his accomplishments individually and as a team mate, Curry is undeniably the
