Gilas Send-off Ceremony

Manila, Philippines, June 9, 2016 - In a send-off ceremony held by the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas on Wednesday at Novotel Hotel, big names such as PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa, SBP Vice President Al Panlilio, congressman Robbie Puno and Gilas Pilipinas coach Tab Baldwin gave their speeches infront of the media. The number one fan of the Gilas team none other than President Manny V. Pangilinan was also present during the send-off ceremony.
PBA Chito Narvasa told the media about how PBA adjusted its schedule to let the best Filipino players in the country compete for an Olympic berth in the FIBA qualifying tournament. He also denied about the perceived conflict between PBA and SBP and its all about just sitting down and discussing how they would proceed as both parties know their schedule.

Coach Tab Baldwin thanked everyone who supports the Gilas Pilipinas, from SBP president Manny V. Pangilinan up to the media, who plays an important role in bringing the news and keeping every Gilas fans in touch with their national team. He also thanked PBA commisioner Chito Narvasa then joked about how he finally had a chance to shook hands with PBA commisioner Chito Narvasa and said "Hello" to each other putting away all the rumors about their rifts. The Gilas coach once had a controversial comment about the officiating of a game during the Commissioner's Cup finals. He then ended his speech with a message to the Filipino people. He reminds the fans to keep the Gilas team in their thoughts, prayers and most importantly in their hearts.
