Lions, Cardinals draw first blood in NCAA opener as favorite Chiefs play today

On
June 25, 2016, Saturday, at the Mall of Asia Arena, the oldest collegiate
basketball in the country opened once more with the San Beda College as its
host for the 92nd season.
The
Opening ceremony at the Mall of Asia Arena was highlighted by the first two
games courtesy of the defending champions Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights
versus the San Beda College Red Lions at 2:00pm and was followed by Mapua
Institute of Technology Cardinals versus the Jose Rizal University Heavy
Bombers at 4:00pm. The San Beda Red Lions nipped the defending champs Letran
Knights, 89-85, while reinging MVP Allwell Oraeme recorded a double-double to
help Mapua Cardinals beat JRU Heavy Bombers, 74-71.
