WSOF Global Announces 4-Man Tournament for Flyweight Title
WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING - GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP
ANNOUNCES 4-MAN TOURNAMENT FOR FLYWEIGHT TITLE
Fight Scheduled for July 30 at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Manila, Philippines
LAS VEGAS, NV World Series of Fighting – Global Championship (WSOF-GC) will be hosting the first round of a 4-man tournament on July 30 at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines, featuring some of the best flyweight fighters in the world. The two winners will face each other on a future card to crown WSOF Global’s first Flyweight World Champion.
Both July 30 matches will take place on the main card. The first matchup features USA’s Lawrence DiGuilio (17-7-1 and winner of 9 of his last 10 bouts) against Brazil’s Marcel Adur (11-4 and winner of 5 of his last 6 bouts, all by KO/TKO). The second contest pits Japan’s Yusaku Nakamura (12-4-1 and winner of his last 7 bouts) against Australia’s Tim Moore (10-5 and winner of 5 of 6 matches since dropping to 125lbs).
“It is very exciting to bring top talent from around the globe to Philippines,” states WSOF-GC Owner, Dunesa Hesser. “We know these guys will have something to prove and are looking forward to their future title hopes. I would love for the winner to come back to Philippines next year and take on a champion from our affiliate UGB-MMA, or even PXC or URCC. Our mission is to find the best fighters in the world and have them fight champions from other organizations. This is the only way we can have a globally-recognized world champion. To be the best, you have to beat the best.”
“All four of these fighters have the potential to be world champions,” adds Jason Lilly, Vice President of Operations and Matchmaker for WSOF-GC. “The most intriguing matchup is that Nakamura and DiGuilio are competing on opposite sides of the bracket. They had the Fight of the Night at WSOF-GC 2 in Japan back in February. Although Nakamura came away with the split decision victory, many people think DiGuilio won that fight. This could set up a rematch for a five-round war. However, they need to focus on the matter at hand. Marcel Adur has the best striking of any flyweight in Brazil. Tim Moore is the number one 125lb fighter in Australia and the reigning Eternal MMA champion.”
WSOF-GC will host WSOF-GC 3 Philippines at Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 30, 2016. Tickets start at PHP300 with ringside seats available for PHP4000. Tickets are now on sale at http://ticketnet.com.ph/WSOF- GC3-Philippines--Smart- Araneta-Coliseum/EventDetails/ 431. Smart Araneta Coliseum has been host to many great events over the years, but is most notably known for Ali vs Frazier III “The Thrilla in Manila”.
World Series of Fighting Global’s ultimate mission is to bring together the best athletes from countries and organizations across the world to compete for a true, globally-recognized world champion.
