“The Rock” Asi Taulava is set to rewrite his record as the oldest All-Star starter after he was named to start for the South team in the PBA All-Star Game which set on August 7 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. He will be replacing Greg Slaughter who top the fan balloting after the Ginebra slotman became unavailable due on ankle injury.
After being slapped for a one-game suspension, the
43-year-old former MVP is set to for his 14th All-Star appearance. He
will be joining James Yap, Scottie Thompson, June Mar Fajardo, and Joe
Devance in the starting five for the South team that will be coach by Leo
Austria.
The North team starters will be Mark Caguioa and Japeth
Aguilar of Ginebra, Marc Pingris of Star, Calvin Abueva of Alaska, and Terrence Romeo of
GlobalPort. The North team will be coach by Yeng Guiao.
The second units for the South team are Chris
Ross of San Miguel, RR Garcia and Mark Barroca of Star, JR Quinahan, Jeff Chan and Jericho Cruz of Rain or Shine, and Carlo Lastimosa of Blackwater.
North team’s reserves are Jayson Castro,
Ranidel de Ocampo and Troy Rosario of TnT Katropa, Alex Cabagnot of San Miguel, Gabe
Norwood and Paul Lee of Rain or Shine, and Stanley Pringle of GlobalPort.
