The most anticipated
rematch of the year finally went down and this time around The
Notorious “ Conor McGregor” made the Stockton Ganstsa “ Nate
Diaz” recognize his presence.
Conor Mcgregor won
the rematch by a majority decision against his arch-rival Nate Diaz.
The first round was
pretty much the same as the first fight, McGreggor was the aggressor
but this time full camp certainly made a difference as he came
through with more precise and controlled striking.
The Notorius started
the first round landing some leg kicks then right in the middle of
the round he successfully landed his signature left hand and dropped
Diaz. The first round was no doubt in favor of Mcgregor.
In round 2 McGregor
sticks to his game plan. His striking was controlled and precised,
there were successful leg kicks but without throwing spinning back
and wheel kicks he was able to conserve his energy. Then he drops
Diaz twice in this round with his signature left hand but he let is
arch-rvial to get back up. Now Nate Diaz picks up the pace and
started throwing volume of punches. Some landed; some did not but it
was such an effective strategy to put pressure on McGregor as he
steps back looking tired. Diaz ended the round with putting McGregor
against the cage. It was almost a great comeback for Diaz had he not
ran out of time. McGregor landed more significant strikes and bagged
the round 2.
Round 3 is when
Mcgregor's cardio was put to the test. Nate was bloody and McGregor
seems gassing out. Diaz shown his “Gangsta” approach in this
round as he keeps moving forward and exchanges strikes. There were a
lot clinching against the cage and surprisingly McGregor throws the
spinning back kick in this round which I thought wasn't an ideal move
given the situation. There were take down attempts by Diaz but
McGregor did a good job defending. Both fighters were doing good
fighting off the clinch but Diaz volume striking and taunting are
working in this round. I thought round 3 goes to Nate Diaz.
Round 4: McGregor
executing his game plan he wasn't panicking, he looks more calm and
patient. In this round he looks more OK compared to the previous
round. McGregor once again landing some clean hard punches and some
leg kicks. Diaz on the other hand attempts to take his opponent down
all though did not succeed on taking the fight to the ground Diaz
came through with some combinations. There were clinch reversals
against the cage and exchange of short punches and elbows. Diaz's
bloody face might have somehow affected his vision as McGregor edges
him out in this round.
And there's the last
round!! the moment of truth. McGregor is consistent with his
calculated striking as he keeps on landing the leg kick and punches.
In this round he seems to be very cautious as he circles around and
checks the clock while Diaz is showing the world his toughness. His
ability to take punches gives him an opportunity to land some left
and right punches of his own. It was a combination of take down
attempts and heavy volume of punches from Diaz. Both fighters spend
the last minutes of the fight against the cage, aside from landing
some clean strikes McGregor was also able to tripped Diaz but Diaz
gets up quickly. Diaz finally scored a take down in dying seconds, he
got the mount position but did not have enough time to keep
pounding.
The epic fight ended
in classiest way you could never imagine. The Gangsta “Diaz”
offered his hand to the “Notorious” as he helps him get up. They
shook hands and acknowledge each other
The Notorious won
the rematch by landing more significant strikes, winner by majority
decision.
Both fighters are
very much willing to make the rubber match happen. Still far ahead
but what are your thoughts on that?
