UFC 202: McGregor def. Nate Diaz
Five months ago, McGregor fought Nate Diaz on UFC 196 where the Irishman was a heavy favorite to defeat Nate Diaz who took the fight on short notice. However, the Stockton native pulled off an upset as he defeated McGregor in the second round of their bout via submission (rear-naked choke).
Heading into UFC 202, there's no doubt that all McGregor wanted was a revenge against the guy who defeated him months ago. This time Conor got exactly what he wanted as he defeated Nate Diaz via majority decision.
The fight took place in the newly opened T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas where the two fighters fought in front of around 15 thousand fight fans. The match between the two was remarkable. McGregor did not waste time as he dominated Diaz in the opening round. He blasted leg kicks after leg kicks and knocked Diaz down with a left hand shot. In the second round, each fighter had their own moment. McGregor continued to be aggressive as he brought Diaz down again with his powerful left hand while maintaining his leg attacks. McGregor somehow slowed down and Diaz was quick to take advantage. He produced accurate and heavy shots against McGregor which continued until the third round.
The fourth and fifth round of their bout was epic as both fighters gave it their all landing good shots at one another. Diaz however was notably impressive on the fifth and final round where he took control of the ground as he pounded McGregor in the closing moments of the fight.
