Europa League results: Man United,Inter,Schalke and Nice among the winners

UEFA Europa League formerly known as UEFA Cup Europe's second biggest continental club competition concluded its first half of the group phase last night.

Manchester United 4-1 Fenerbache

After a tough scoreless goal against its bitter nemesis Liverpool in the Premier League on monday, Manchester United get a much needed win in the Europa League ahead of an another big league match this weekend. In the 31st minute the referee awarded a penalty to United after Rooney was brought down, Paul Pogba successfully converted from the spot to give the home side a lead. Then after just 3 minutes another penalty was given to Man United this time it was Juan Mata who was brought down on the box, Anthony Martial took the second penalty and successfully converted it as well. Pogba once again scored for the Red Devils during the first half stoppage time, with Jesse Lingard scoring their 4th just 3 mins after the 2nd half starts. In the 83rd minute as if it was meant to be former Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie scored in his Old Trafford return much to the delight of the home supporters and as his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson who attended the game last night.  

Inter Milan 1-0 Southampton

Inter Milan finally opened its accounts in the group stages of this years Europa League after a win last night. It was the English side who has actually more chances to score a goal. Rodriguez was denied a goal in the 2nd half when he fouled an Inter Milan player after the corner kick has been taken. It was the hope that Inter needs as they capitalized in the other end thanks to a goal by Candreva to score the eventual winning goal. Despite Inter going down to 10 man after a 2nd yellow from Brozovic, Southampton couldnt take advantage as the Italian side hang on to the slender lead to take their first points in this years competition.

FC Krasnodar 0-1 FC Schalke 04

Despite its horrendous form in the German League where they see themselves on the bottom 3 of the table, Schalke is playing impressively in the Europa League having won all of the 3 matches in the group stages scoring 5 goals and conceding just 1 goal in the process. Yevhen Konoplyanka's goal in the 10th minute was all that was needed to seperate the two sides after 90 mins. 

Red Bull Salzburg 0-1 Nice

The current table topper team in the French Ligue 1 finally won their first match in this years Europa League. This was a match of both teams who lost their opening 2 matches, it was a big match for both teams as they want to remain in the hunt for a knockout phase berth. Alassane Plea of Nice made sure that the French side's hope of reaching the knockout stages is still alive after scoring the only goal of the game in the 13th minute.
