Corrales gets off the floor to retain WBA Strap
WBA "Super" World Super featherweight champion Panamanian Jezreel "El Invisible" Corrales (22-1,8) gets off the floor to retain his title against rugged Mexican Robin "Robinhood" Castellanos (24-13,14) at The Forum in Inglewood California.
Both fighters were active throwing combinations in early rounds played with some of their dirty tactics. Castellanos suffered a cut in his forehead due to head clash while Corrales was down in third round by a low blow but obviously the champion dominated the first three rounds. Castellanos saw a window of opportunity when he drops Corrales two times in the fourth round but the champion recovered and controlled the pace in 5th and 6th round. Corrales dropped Castellanos in the last minute of 7th round. Both boxers exchanged combinations in the next rounds until once again accidental head clash happened that opened a big cut under the right eye of Castellanos, unable to continue the fight went to the score cards.
The scores were 94-94 a draw 94-93, 96-92 for Corrales. Corrales win via 10 rounds Technical Majority Decision. He was successful on his US and Golden Boy debut and more bigger fights are coming up on his way.
