Kelly Williams is the William ‘Bogs’ Adornado Comeback Player of the Year
At 35 years old, the power forward of Talk n Text has found his second wind with his commendable performance last season. Becoming one of the offensive weapons of his team, Kelly Williams in recent years has seen a decline in his performance especially after getting traded from Sta. Lucia, the team who drafted him first overall in 2006.
In almost four years with Sta. Lucia, he was the leader and averaged as high as 18.2 points in a season. He became an MVP in 2008 and have received other individual awards including a 5-time All-Star, 3x mythical five among others. His career was flourishing early and in just his second year in the league, he was able to capture the championship with the Sta Lucia Realtors.
In 2009 however, he was diagnosed with a recurring blood disorder. He was traded to Talk n Text in the same year and had played for them til present. His production when he was with Sta. Lucia, however, was never duplicated and his performance has since dipped. He has averaged his lowest point average in 2014 with 4.7 points.
Talk n Text, however, stuck with Kelly and while he was not heavily utilized on offense, he was a major part of the rotation and has occasionally brought in big games. Last year, he once again burst back to the scene as he became one of the primary players. In the last conference, Kelly averaged 11.82 points, almost 7 rebounds, an assist in 27 minutes of playing time. A stat line that helped him capture his 4th PBA Mythical Second Team and this year, his 2nd Comeback Player of the Year award.
