The World Boxing Council (WBC) has unveiled two significant additions to its championship accolades: the 6th Generation WBC World Champion Belt and the "Aztec Warrior" Belt. The announcement took place at Hotel Andaz in Colonia Condesa, Mexico City, in the presence of Mexican boxing legends such as Rubén Olivares, Humberto "Chiquita" González, and Marco Antonio Barrera.

The 6th Generation WBC World Champion Belt features an enlarged plaque and now includes the flags of Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Puerto Rico, and the Vatican, each meticulously hand-painted. This design symbolizes the WBC's commitment to global unity in the sport.

The "Aztec Warrior" Belt honors the late Israel "El Magnífico" Vázquez, who passed away from cancer on December 3rd. This commemorative belt will be awarded to the winner of the upcoming bout between Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz and Ángel Fierro, both renowned for their aggressive fighting styles. Vázquez's widow and three children are expected to present the belt to the victor, adding a personal touch to the tribute.

The event highlighted the rich history of Mexican boxing rivalries, showcasing legendary matchups such as Olivares vs. Chucho Castillo and Vázquez vs. Rafael Márquez. These bouts exemplify the passion and intensity characteristic of Mexican fighters, a legacy that the WBC aims to honor with these new belts.

Miguel Jurado of Imperio De Metal, the company responsible for crafting the WBC belts, emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the new design. He noted that the year-long process to develop the 6th Generation Belt focused on ensuring that all national flags were represented, reinforcing the WBC's dedication to unity within the boxing community.

These initiatives by the WBC not only pay homage to boxing's storied past but also look forward to a future of inclusivity and global recognition in the sport.
