LaMelo Ball Sidelined with Ankle Sprain, Out at Least One Week |
Charlotte Hornets star guard LaMelo Ball is expected to be sidelined for at least one week due to a left ankle sprain sustained during Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The injury occurred in the second quarter after Ball made a three-pointer and inadvertently stepped on Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt's foot while backpedaling, causing him to roll his ankle. He exited the game with seven points in nine minutes, and the Hornets ultimately fell to the Lakers 112-107.
This setback adds to Ball's history of ankle injuries. Last season, he was limited to just 22 games due to similar issues. Despite these challenges, the 23-year-old has been delivering an impressive performance this season, averaging 28.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 7.5 assists over 30 games.
The Hornets are scheduled to face the LA Clippers on January 31, followed by games against the Denver Nuggets on February 1 and the Washington Wizards on February 3. Ball's absence will be keenly felt as the team navigates these upcoming matchups.
