Three World Titles on the Line! Teraji, Olascuaga & Iwata Ready for War!

WBC flyweight world champion Kenshiro Teraji and WBA titleholder Seigo Yuri Akui are set for a blockbuster title unification showdown on Thursday, March 13, at the legendary Ryōgoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

This must-watch battle headlines a high-stakes world title tripleheader, featuring two more championship clashes. WBO flyweight champion Anthony Olascuaga makes his second title defense against former two-division world champion Hiroto Kyoguchi, while Japanese star Shokichi Iwata puts his WBO light flyweight strap on the line against Puerto Rican contender Rene Santiago.

All three world title fights will stream live exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S. at 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT.

Kenshiro Teraji vs. Seigo Yuri Akui – The Flyweight Unification Battle!

Teraji (24-1, 15 KOs) is no stranger to championship glory. This will be his 17th consecutive world title fight, an eight-year reign of dominance that saw him rule the light flyweight division twice. In 2022, he avenged his only loss by knocking out Masamichi Yabuki and later unified titles by stopping Kyoguchi. Teraji made the move to flyweight in 2024, where he demolished Cristofer Rosales to claim the WBC flyweight world title.

Akui (21-2-1, 11 KOs) is riding high after dethroning longtime WBA flyweight champion Artem Dalakian in January 2024. He cemented his championship status with decision victories over Taku Kuwahara and Thananchai Charunphak, setting the stage for this epic champion vs. champion clash.

Olascuaga vs. Kyoguchi – A Champion vs. Former King Showdown

Los Angeles native Anthony Olascuaga (8-1, 6 KOs) fell short against Teraji in his first world title attempt in 2023, but he bounced back with a vengeance. In July 2024, he knocked out Riku Kano in three rounds to claim the vacant WBO flyweight title. His first defense was even more dominant—a first-round stoppage of former champion Jonathan Gonzalez.

But Hiroto Kyoguchi (19-2, 12 KOs) is hungry to reclaim world championship status. The former two-weight champion is aiming to make history as a three-division world champion, despite being two years removed from his devastating loss to Teraji in a light flyweight unification bout.

Iwata vs. Santiago – The Rising Star Defends His Throne

Shokichi Iwata (14-1, 11 KOs) is on fire, having won five straight fights, including a brutal third-round knockout over Jairo Noriega to claim the vacant WBO light flyweight title. Now, he faces Puerto Rican challenger Rene Santiago (13-4, 9 KOs), who is looking for redemption after falling short in his first world title bid against Jonathan Gonzalez in March 2024. Santiago rebounded with a dominant win over Ricardo Astuvilca and is ready for another shot at gold.
