Unbeaten bantamweight prospect Kenneth Llover is set for the biggest test of his young career when he takes on former two-division world champion Luis Concepcion this Sunday, August 17, at Winford Resort and Casino Manila.
The two fighters came face-to-face for the first time during the pre-fight press conference, exchanging mutual respect but making it clear they are ready for war.
Llover (14-0, 9 KOs) knows the magnitude of the challenge ahead.
“This is a huge challenge. He’s no joke. I respect him because he’s a two-division world champion, and I’m working towards my dream of becoming one. He’s a good opponent, and this is a real test of how far I can go. I plan to win by knockout,” said the 23-year-old rising star.
Concepcion (40-11, 29 KOs) is no stranger to big fights and revealed he has been grinding for two months to prepare for this non-title showdown in hostile territory.
“I’ve heard many things about my opponent, but it’s just going to be the two of us inside the ring. The more talented fighter will win. I respect Llover, but this fight is not just about physical preparation — it’s also mental. I am going to win,” the Panamanian veteran declared.
Event promoter Gerry Peñalosa, a former world champion himself, praised Llover’s courage but warned that Concepcion’s experience should not be underestimated.
“Being a two-division world champion is not a joke. This is a huge fight for Llover, but he needs this. He has to go through a test like this if he wants to reach the top,” Peñalosa said.
The Llover vs. Concepcion bout is co-promoted by Gerrypens Promotions and Kameda Promotions, and co-presented by Winford Resort and Casino Manila. Fans can expect nothing less than fireworks when the bell rings.
