The next generation of Asian basketball talent is about to take center stage as EASL Future Champions Elite launches its free tryouts in Cebu, offering U15 male players a rare opportunity to train with elite coaches and compete internationally at zero cost.

The East Asia Super League’s youth development initiative aims to identify top young hoopers in Cebu and provide them with structured training, competitive games, and a pathway to represent the city in Hong Kong SAR this July. Registration for Cebu-based players is open until April 9.

The program is made possible with the support of Cebu City, the Cebu City Sports Commission, and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), all working together to elevate grassroots basketball in one of the country’s most passionate hoops regions.

Cebu has already seen strong engagement from EASL youth initiatives, with past camps attracting more than 280 participants. This time, the stakes are even higher. The Elite program will form official teams, deliver professional-level coaching, and offer players a chance to compete on an international stage.

“EASL Future Champions Elite was built on the belief that talent should never be limited by opportunity,” said EASL CEO Henry Kerins. “Cebu’s basketball culture is special, and we’re excited to give young players here the tools, coaching, and exposure to compete with the best in the region.”

Tryouts are scheduled for April 12, with four sessions accommodating up to 200 participants throughout the day. Interested players can register through @EASLFutureChampions on Instagram or Facebook. Participation is completely free  from tryouts to team selection and competition.

Only 40 players will be selected to form four Cebu teams. Those chosen will receive exclusive EASL Future Champions Elite and Under Armour gear and take part in an eight-week development program featuring twice-weekly training sessions and weekend games.

At the conclusion of the program, the top 10 performers will earn an all-expenses-paid trip to Hong Kong SAR from July 24–26 to compete in the All-Star Tournament. They will face elite youth teams from Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR in the inaugural edition of the tournament. Flights and accommodations will be fully covered.

Leading the Cebu coaching staff is Coach Joel Co, a former professional and national team player with experience in the PBA, MBA, SEA Games, and ABC Championship. The program curriculum is designed by an international coaching group led by Michael Olson, whose résumé includes coaching roles in Japan, Taiwan, and a stint with the San Antonio Spurs Summer League, along with serving as head coach of the Chinese Taipei women’s national team.

With free access, elite training, and an international pathway, EASL Future Champions Elite is set to give Cebu’s young talents a chance to shine and possibly become Asia’s next future champion. 🌏🔥
