PBA Tribute and support Smart Gilas, maybe next time


The Philippine Basketball Association will pay tribute to Smart Gilas Pilipinas during the opening ceremonies of its 38th season on Sunday, saluting coach Chot Reyes, his staff and the Nationals for their Jones Cup victory and semifinal finish in the FIBA Asia Cup.

Coming with the citation is commissioner Chito Salud’s promise of the league’s continuous support, hoping the national team to be in best shape possible in time for the world qualifier next year.

Well isn't this sweet , I know you can smell sarcasm in my writing , this isn't because i don't want the Smart Gilas to be recognized, in fact I think the Smart Gilas basketball team should be given an award after all these guys willingly represented the Philippine flag, the key world  "willingly " . The PBA including the players and the management should have shown their support earlier by lending their best players or players obliging to play for the Philippines team but instead they chose to turn their back against their country. The card, at the ProBox TV Events Center in Plant City, Florida, is led by two featherweights attempting to climb the rankings Angelo Leo (23-1, 11 KOs), who trains out of Las Vegas, Nevada, made weight at 125.8 lbs. His opponent, Eduardo Baez (23-5-2, 9 KOs), came in slightly lighter at 125.4 lbs. They will contest a 10-round main event. Leo is a former WBO super-bantamweight champion. He is riding a three-fight winning streak; his past two fights were broadcast on ProBox TV. Leo is ranked seventh by the WBA and 13th by the IBF.
