South Korea Rained Down Threes and Soaked Up Gilas Pilipinas' Campaign to Drain

After 3 Straight Wins, Gilas Pilipinas Bow Down from the Tournament

South Korea is a better team than Gilas Pilipinas

Sure, we were expecting a lot more work from our national team especially for a knockout game against South Korea who has tormented the Philippines for a long time.

All hopes were high after a great showing from the Gilas Pilipinas in their first three games as an undermanned Gilas displayed resilience under pressure but Korea showed no mercy as they pounded the Philippines inside and out.

66% FG shooting including 16/21 three pointers. No teams including the Philippines would make it out winning under these circumstances.  From the get go, the Koreans led and never trailed a single second as quarter after quarter they led the game.

Romeo the bright spot that turned dimmed

The second half was the only bright spot that we had as we were able to produce 31 big points to at least match the production of south Korea. Terrence Romeo took over the game and scored a total of 22 points in the quarter.

Defense, Defense where is the defense?

Offensively, I think we were okay although it can still be improved especially in the first and the third quarter where we slacked off and scored 18 and 13 points respectively while allowing the Koreans 26 and 29. Our biggest weakness last night was defense. We allowed the Koreans to score not only outside but also on the inside. The Koreans showed brilliance in offensive executions.

The game ended with the score of 118 - 86 in favor of the hot shooting Koreans who now will face Iran in the Semis of the FIBA Asia Cup.
