Team LeBron versus Team Steph: Who Would Win?

Lebron James vs Stephen Curry

A Wheeler's Opinion: Given the final roster of each team, LeBron's team has the upper hand

Over the past seasons, the All-Star Game had been about West versus East. The starters were voted by fans while reserves were selected by the coaches. Now? The West versus East is replaced by Team LeBron versus Team Steph.

Why?

Prior to the start of the season, the NBA has announced that it would change the format of the All-Star Game. The fans would still vote for the starters but the player with the highest number of votes from each conference would be named the captain of his team. Now building the team's roster for each team will undergo a drafting process meaning each captain will draft his starters and reserves.

As it happened, this year's All-Star Game will very much interesting and at some point, weird. Why?

Check out the rosters of both squads:

Team LeBron

  • LeBron James- captain/starter
  • DeMarcus Cousins- starter
  • Anthony Davis- starter
  • Kevin Durant- starter
  • Kyrie Irving- starter
  • LaMarcus Aldridge
  • Bradley Beal
  • Kevin Love
  • Victor Oladipo
  • Kristaps Porzingis
  • John Wall
  • Russell Westbrook

Team Steph

  • Steph Curry- captain/starter
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo- starter
  • DeMar DeRozan- starter
  • Joel Embiid- starter
  • James Harden- starter
  • Jimmy Butler
  • Draymond Green
  • Al Horford
  • Damian Lillard
  • Kyle Lowry
  • Klay Thompson
  • Karl Anthony-Towns
It's interesting to see how LeBron James will play alongside Kyrie Irving but what's more interesting is that LeBron James and Kevin Durant are on the same team alongside Anthony Davis. That's a scary trio because we're talking about 3 of the best stars in the NBA today (Sorry, Steph. You're included)

Who would win?

Personally, this pundit on wheels thinks that Team LeBron will dominate because they have Durant, Davis, Russell Westbrook and the Washington Wizards' dynamic duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal. Steph Curry's team may have James Harden and Giannis "The Greek Freak" Antetokounmpo on board but none of them can defend LeBron James for one.

Conclusion

Assuming that this year's All-Star Game will be played exactly like a normal basketball and not just an extension of the Slam Dunk Contest, it would be an exciting game not just for the players but for the fans. Why? They will get to see stars from other conference joining stars from the other conference in a rare team-up. Of course, this might be the preview of what it would be like should Anthony Davis goes to Golden State Warriors and teams-up with Kevin Durant.
