TENERIFE, Spain (FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018) - The draw ceremony for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 took place on Tuesdayat the Teatro Leal, San Cristóbal de la Laguna on the island of Tenerife, Spain.

Attending this milestone event on the Road to Tenerife - Spain 2018 were: Hamane Niang, FIBA Vice-President and FIBA Africa President; Lena Wallin-Kantzy, FIBA Executive Committee Member; Jorge Garbajosa, Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) President; Manuel Gomez Padilla, Canary Islands Basketball Federation President and FEB Vice President; Fernando Clavijo Batlle, President of the Canary Islands Government; Carlos Alonso Rodríguez, President of the Tenerife Island Council; José Alberto Díaz Domínguez, Mayor of San Cristóbal de la Laguna; José Manuel Bermúdez Esparza, Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
They were joined by former Spain national team players Elisa Aguilar, Margarita 'Wonny' Geuer and Nieves Anula - a native of Tenerife - as well as Italy's Catarina Pollini, who lent a hand in carrying out the draw.
The distinguished guests also included national federation representatives of the participating teams and Spain senior men's national team coach Sergio Scariolo.
The FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 will take place from September 22-30, 2018.

The Group Phase will be held across the Tenerife Sports Pavilion Santiago Martin in San Cristóbal de La Laguna and the Palacio Municipal de Deportes "Quico Cabrera" in Santa Cruz. The Final Phase will then take center stage in the Tenerife Sports Pavilion Santiago Martin.
