To spice up the coming 73rd UAAP season, school representatives of the country’s biggest collegiate league are planning to stage a Drumline competition in the second semester.

Ricky Palou, Ateneo’s representative to the board, said there is nothing final yet although the contest involving marching bands playing snare drums, tenor drums, bass drums and cymbals was discussed during their board meeting last week at Sofitel.

“Since we have the cheerdance competition in the first semester, maybe a similar tournament (drumline) is also good for the second semester,” said Palou, also the tournament director of the Shakey’s V-League.

According to wikipedia.org, Drumline, popularized by a movie based on true story, is usually incorporated into high school or college marching bands, drum and bugle corps or drum and lyre corps, indoor percussion ensembles and pipe bands which perform in football fields.
