Magic considering re-signing Jason Williams

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Magic general manager Otis Smith is considering re-signing free agent point guard Jason Williams. Williams was an extremely pleasant surprise for the Magic last season; after missing the 08-09 season altogether, Williams came out of "retirement" to average 6 points and 3.6 assists per game while shooting a career-high 44% from the field and 38% from three-point range.

Williams' style made him a great fit for the Magic's bench -- like most of Orlando's perimeter players, Williams has the confidence to fire up a three at any time and the basketball IQ to give the ball to a teammate when he has a better shot. The 34-year old Williams' possible preference for a two-year deal could be problematic, but Williams' shooting touch, passing ability, and ballhandling shouldn't go away with age.

Smith said that the Magic are considering two "younger guys" if the team doesn't re-sign Williams. The Sentinel speculated that the "younger guys" in question may be Chris Quinn and Travis Diener.
