STRIKEFORCE CHALLENGERS 10 RESULTS: Ryan Couture, son of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, impresses in his professional debut

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

Ryan Couture, the 27 year old son of UFC Hall of Famer and UFC 118 co-main event fighter Randy "The Natural" Couture, made his professional debut on Friday night at Strikeforce: Challengers 10 on Showtime, and he made the most of the exposure.

In a quick fight, Couture pulled off a nice takedown, got taken down himself and then quickly slapped on a tight triangle choke submission to force Lucas Stark to tap.

The fight, which came in the middle of the night's card from the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz., was one of only two fights on the main card that were full length bouts due to the women's tournament.

Couture will now look to make a name for himself after making the jump to the professional ranks after a number of amateur bouts.

Penick's Analysis: Of course, this fight only got on TV because of his last name, but he provided an exciting short fight and picked up a good submission win in his debut. As long as he can take advantage of the doors that will be open to him because of who his father is he can still distance himself from that. If he can start rattling off more wins and if he can look impressive doing so, eventually the talk will turn to being just about him.
