“AZKALS” midfielder Jason De Jong was declined by an Indonesian football league.

Its not bad if players hope for better opportunities even if you have to turn your back against your country, its ok, really... What is not ok is to be rejected and hoping that you can still  go back and play again for your homeland. Its embarrassing...  story inside

Indonesia declines ‘Azkal’ midfielder

“AZKALS” midfielder Jason De Jong was declined by an Indonesian football league the Palembang Tribune News reported.

The Filipino-Dutch De Jong was among the four foreign players who participated in a selection process in Indonesia but failed to meet the criteria.

“We’ll send the four foreign players home because they do not match the needs and desires of the team coach Ivan
Kolev,” said Indonesian football official Hendri Zainudin.

De Jong played with the Azkals when the Philippines beat Mongolia 2-0 in the Bacolod leg of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup. Despite his failed entry into the Indonesian football league, De Jong said he is still willing to play for the Filipino football squad. It is definite though that he would play with the Azkals in the second leg of the AFC Challenge Cup in Ulan Bator, Mongolia.

This is not the first time that an Azkals team member got an offer elsewhere. The Younghusband brothers, Phil and James as well as Aly Borromeo were also once wooed by the Indonesian football league.

  1. Turning back to our country is really a bad thing but if players are doing this because of their ignorance then they are also right.

  2. This is bullshit news. There is a GMA article that says de Jong signed up with the Sriwijaya Football Club in Indonesia's Super League. I don't know what the writer's intentions are, but he'd better have proof of this claim.
