Rory Macdonald Answers Tough Questions From Asian Media ( UFC Fight Night 89)

1. Do you think a win over Wonderboy gives you a title shot? If Robbie wins - people will want to see the rematch. If Tyron wins - that's a guy you have a win over. (The Ringside View, India)
It puts me in a good spot, but I can’t be sure, though.

2. What are your takes on this match-up with Stephen Thompson? You've trained with Wonderboy before. Does that make things a lot harder - when you have to fight an opponent? (The Ringside View & Sportskeeda, India)
Not at all. I haven’t really trained too much with Stephen Thompson. I've just known him for years from his time training in Montreal.

3. I assume you've seen his fight with Hendricks. Do you think you are familiar enough with his style to not be too worried? What did you think of it, and of Wonderboy's unique skill set? (Sportskeeda & The Ringside View & Yahoo! Sports, India)
I feel like I’ve trained as best as I can to prepare for style. He had a very good performance against Hendricks.

4. Thompson is sure that he will defeat you, what do you have to say about that? (Sportskeeda, India)
I think he’s wrong.

5. You haven't been seen in the cage after a bloody match with Lawler, whereas Thompson comes off a 5 win streak. Is this going to be a matter of concern? (Sportskeeda, India)
No, it isn’t a concern. His win streak is very imrpessive. It’s impressive to do something like that in the UFC.

6. Both you and Thompson fight bloody, have substantial striking and good defense. You however, seem to have an upper hand with takedown and submission defense. Are you going to play this card? (Sportskeeda, India)
I believe it will be a major factor, yes.

7. How do you predict this fight's end? (Sportskeeda, India)
I predict a submission or KO win for me.

8. You’re still the number one contender, and a victory over Thompson will all but guarantee another title fight for you. Would you rather want to face Lawler again to get your win back? Or does it not matter to you who the champion is? (Yahoo! Sports, India)
I’d like to fight Lawler because I’ve lost to him twice.

9. You are fighting on home turf, how big of a factor is that come fight night? (Mike Murillo, Business World, Philippines)
I always enjoy it more. The atmosphere is always better, the fans have my back and support me more because I’m Canadian.

10. Coming off a loss, can you talk about the mindset you have as oppose to off a win? (Mike Murillo, Business World, Philippines)
I’m more motivated to get another win.
