(Abaniel holding GBU and WIBA titles)
Unnoticed Filipina fighter Gretchen Abaniel (17-8,6KOs) who beat the previously unbeaten Thai Petcharas Superchamp (6-1,1) to unify the Womens Interational Boxing Association (WIBA) and Global Boxing Union (GBU) minimumweight titles yesterday night in NewSouth Wales Australia.
Abaniel scored 4th round knockdown enroute to her 10 round Unanimous decision victory and took away Petcharas' unbeaten record. Abaniel is one of the two Filipina World champion, the other one is WIBA Super flyweight champion Marnelle Verano.
In main event Filipino Jobert Delos Reyes (15-7-1,10) failed to repeat his win against Darragh Foley (9-2,7)on their rematch.Last year Delos Reyes pulled off a Split Decision win over the Australian boxer to give Foley his first loss. In rematch Foley was hungrier and determined and managed to dropped the Filipino in 4th round enroute to uncontroversial 6th round TKO over the Filipino to avenge his loss and captured the WBA Ocenia Jr Welterweigh title.
