UFC 200 did not disappoint fight fans, as one of the most awaited UFC events this year went on as expected with the fighters putting on a show in front of over 18,000 people in attendance in the newly opened T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Cain Velasquez defeats Travis Browne
Coming off a back injury which prevented him from facing Fabricio Werdum earlier this year, Cain Velasquez made his UFC return a remarkable one as he finished Travis Browne in the first round via TKO. The Mexican improves his record to 14 wins and 2 losses while Travis Browne drops to 18-4-1.
Jose Aldo defeats Frankie Edgar
This fight was quite a close one as both fighters tried to outclass each other all throughout the fight. Every round was tough to score, but apparently, Frankie Edgar found it difficult to handle Jose Aldo's fighting style handing the Brazilian a 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 unanimous decision victory. Aldo now becomes the UFC interim Featherweight champion and is on track to possibly face Conor McGregor once again.
Daniel Cormier defeats Anderson Silva
Cormier who was supposed to face long time rival Jon Jones had to deal with Anderson Silva instead as Jones tests positive for doping. Silva took the fight in 2 days notice which gave Cormier an advantage as he has been preparing for this fight for a long time. Cormier though, used his wrestling skills to safely secure this win. He scored takedowns in every round to the dismay of the crowd. He clearly outwrestled Silva in this fight which handed him a 30-26, 30-26, 30-26 unanimous decision win over the former UFC Middleweight champion.
Brock Lesnar defeats Mark Hunt
Brock Lesnar marks his UFC return with a victory over Mark Hunt. Hunt who has been gaining some momentum recently with a couple of impressive wins over big fighters seemed to have lost it as he hands Lesnar a unanimous win with all three judges scoring the fight 29-27. Lesnar was active in the first round and also dominated in the third round wherein he caught Hunt with a takedown and went on for a ground and pound.
Amanda Nunes defeats Miesha Tate
Tate who had some trouble making weight for this fight lost her Bantamweight championship to Amanda Nunes in the first round of the fight via submission. Most fans were stunned as Nunes dominated the champ with hard strikes. Tate was in deep trouble as soon as Nunes connected on a knee. The former champ went down and Nunes was quick to take advantage of it as she got Miesha's back and submitted her via rear naked choke.
