Amnat Ruenroeng expected to retire from boxing!

Yesterday fight fans tuning in to the Olympics in Rio had the chance to see former IBF Flyweighr champion Amnat Ruenroeng (17-1, 5) [อำนาจ รื่นเริง] suffer arguably his most humiliating loss as a fighter, as he was dominated by Frenchman Sofiane Oumiha. The former champion has since told the press that he will have to seriously consider his future after letting down Thai fans with his loss, and it seems like he's set to walk away from being an active fighter. The Thai had claimed that he had done all that he had wanted to in the professional ranks, winning a world title, but had entered the Olympics with a dream of becoming an Olympic gold medal winner and inspiring the younger generation. The loss to Oumiha saw him fail in both of those dreams and figure out that, at 36, he might not have it in him to compete with the best any more. Although he's stopped short of announcing his retirement, just yet, it's been said that he's likely to remain in boxing and become a trainer. It seems likely that a decision will be made in the coming weeks from the Thai and his team.
