CSB Blazers’ ‘Chinito Heartthrob’ Carlo Young in brink of basketball stardom
By: Paolo Manuel C. Fule
When he
side steps from way beyond the arc and hit that lethal dagger three, the crowd
goes wild. The pandemonium doesn’t end there, because the throng of girls who
wanted to take a photo op with him piles up in the athlete’s entrance. Indeed,
he is more than just his boy-next-door image in campus because he is also an
ace player, playmaker, and shooter of the College of St. Benilde Blazers. Let
us take a peek of this young athlete’s path to stardom and beyond.
Born
Carlo Michael L. Young on January 22, 1995 in Bacolod City Negros Occidental to
Mr. Franklin Young Sr. and Ms. Maria Fe Fernandez, the 5-foot-10 CSB Blazers
shooting guard is currently studying as a 3rd year college student
in College of Saint Benilde.
“I
balance my studies and basketball by practicing good time management skills
which I developed since high school” quipped the chinito cager. His career high
in points is 35 during the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association
(MMTLBA) while he scored his career high 24 points in the NCAA. In the NBA, he
idolizes 3-point shooter JJ Redick of the LA Clippers. In the UAAP, he likes
Ren Ren Ritualo. Aside from basketball, he is also into track and field sports.
His favorite shot is his bread and butter 3-point shot. In the recently
concluded NCAA All-Star game, he joined the 3-point shooting contest.
Carlo wants to fulfill his dream of becoming a
successful entrepreneur someday. With unmatched perseverance and the will to
excel in every game that he is in, his dreams are not far-fetched to reach. For
the time being, determination and faith in God is his armor in each battle he
is at.
