He who controls the rebound, controls the
game. If one is gifted with a 6’ 4” height and muscular physique, that will not
be a problem. This center-forward teen heartthrob from Western Visayas is
taking his time with the CSB Blazers for the second consecutive year. Meet
Edward Christopher Dixon.
Born
on March 30, 1998 in Iloilo City to Mr. Ron Dixon and Maryflor Doce, the
6-foot-4 cager is currently studying as BS-HRM student and is playing as
forward/center for the College of St. Benilde Blazers Seniors basketball this
year.
Edward
started playing basketball when he was just 8 years old. “My cousins taught me
how to play the game and also my Mom because she’s really a fan of basketball
since she was with my Dad”, said the cager from Benilde. His best asset in the
court would be his hustle and giving his 100% in every game he’s in. He
idolizes 5-time NBA world champion Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. In
the PBA, he like James Yap who also hails from Iloilo just like him. He admires
James as he admires Kobe. In the NCAA, he likes former CSB guard Jonathan Grey.
“Kahit graduate na siya, siya pa rin idol
ko kasi nagging team mate ko siya ay yung mga galawan nya grabe talaga.
Siyempre grabe din galawan niya off the court, haha” quipped the beaming
cager. His career best in points was 53 during a local tournament in Iloilo.
Edward
played in the 2014 Palarong Pambansa
in Laguna to represent the Western Visayas region. His ambition in life is to
make his family happy in the near future by finishing his studies and play
basketball in the pro league.
