Two World Collide: Anthony Crolla vs Jorge Linares

World champion Anthony Crolla of  Manchester United Kingdom will defend his WBA World lightweight title against WBC lightweight world champion in recess Jorge Linares of Venezuela at the Manchester Arena (formerly M.E.N Arena) Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom. The WBC Diamond and Ring Magazine lightweight belt is also in the line.

29-year old Anthony "Million Dollar" Crolla has a record of 31wins 13 via stoppages 3 draws and 4 defeats. He will defend his title for the second time against Linares. Crolla is coming off a huge 7th round stoppage win over KO artist Ismael Barroso on May 7th.

“I’m fighting the number one fighter in the division for the WBC, WBA and THE RING title; it doesn’t get any better than this. I’m very proud and privileged to be able to bring this fight to Manchester,” said Crolla.

30-year old Jorge Linares who is now residing in Tokyo Japan was announced as champion in recess after he suffered an injury and failed to defend the WBC lightweight world champion to mandatory challenger Dejan Zlaticanin of Montenegro. (Dejan Zlaticanin won the belt over Franklin Mamani on June via 3rd round TKO)

“I know that Crolla is coming off a victory against my fellow Venezuelan, so I am coming in with a lot of determination, pride and hunger for a victory,” said Linares

The winner of the fight must fight WBC lightweight champion Dejan Zlaticanin next.
