UFC: Cormier Defended his Light Heavyweight, Johnson's Surprising Announcement

Coming into the fight, Rumble Johnson looks primed to take the UFC Light Heavyweight title. He looks to be in better shape compared to Cormier who even struggled to make weight.

Anthony "Rumble" Johnson had a lot of early successes against Daniel Cormier hitting him with heavy combinations including a leg kick straight to the face that may have broken the nose of the defending champion.

38 year old Daniel Cormier overcame those challenges and was able to stick to his game plan. The experience and multi-awarded wrestler finished the fight via rear naked choke in round 2.

Much to Cormier's surprise, Johnson tried to defeat the champion by grappling and not by  striking which he had been successful of doing for most of his other fights. It was like history repeating itself as Johnson was defeated by a rear naked choke once again by the same man who have given him his last two defeats in the UFC. Anthony Johnson now falls to 22 wins and 6 losses.

Emotional Anthony Johnson surprisingly announces his retirement after his second attempt for the title belt.

Cormier on the other hand, was extremely happy about the win and has held the belt since May of 2015. He is now at 19 wins and 1 loss.

Jon Jones, the only man who has given him the loss was present during the fight and Cormier at the post fight interview offered a piece of advice to the recovering MMA fighter.
