Menayothin retains WBC 105 lbs Title, moves to 47-0

(L-Menayothin, R-Kimweri)

Wanheng Menayothin retained his WBC World minimumweight Title over Australia based Tanzanian Omari Kimweri by the way of unanimous decision earlier in Rayong Thailand.Scores were 117-110, and 118-109 twice.

Despite the wide scores it wasn't a totally easy defense for Wanheng as he was cut from a clash of heads in the first round and he had to deal with the awkward and rough and tumble style of Kimweri. The Tanzanian threw plenty of punches and started fast but most of his punches missed or were blocked and Wanheng took control with his superior boxing skills using a good jab and accurate counterpunching.

Menayothin goes 47-0 inch closer to Floyd Mayweather (49-0) and Rocky Marciano (49-0). Menayothin is set to defend his title against mandatory challenger Panamanian Leroy Estrada next.
