In some cases that may be true but not all the time, because if it is then NBA teams would be all over these giants. While it is an advantage to be a big player it isn't always the reason why someone would be a good player.  In the NBA, the tallest notable big men were Yao Ming and Manute Bol but they are not the tallest pro players.
