Mayer vs. Ryan II Set for March 29 at BleauLive Theater in Las Vegas

The rivalry continues as Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan prepare to settle unfinished business in a rematch for the WBO welterweight world title. The fight takes place on Saturday, March 29, at the BleauLive Theater inside the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, airing live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

The Feud Intensifies
Their first bout last September was heated from the start. Mayer accused Ryan of stealing her trainer, while Ryan claimed Mayer’s team orchestrated a stunt that left her covered in paint outside their New York City fight hotel. Mayer ultimately took the belt via majority decision, but Ryan is back for revenge in what promises to be another intense showdown.

Co-Main Event: Norman Jr. Defends Welterweight Crown
WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. makes his first title defense against Puerto Rico’s Derrieck Cuevas in the co-main event. Norman, undefeated in 26 fights with 20 KOs, will face a tough test in Cuevas, who enters on a four-fight knockout streak.

Carrington vs. Vivas in a WBC Eliminator
Rising featherweight star Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington takes on Mexico’s Jose Enrique Vivas in a crucial WBC final eliminator. Carrington, fresh off a breakout 2024 campaign, is closing in on a world title shot, while Vivas looks to spoil his plans with his aggressive, all-action style.

Promoter & Venue Statements
Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum expects fireworks: “Mayer and Ryan have one of the fiercest rivalries in recent years, and this fight will be another can’t-miss battle. Norman faces a tough first defense, and Carrington is inching closer to a title shot.”

Matchroom Chairman Eddie Hearn added: “Mayer-Ryan I was one of the best fights of 2024, and this rematch is just as big. Sandy is coming to take her belt back.”

Fontainebleau Las Vegas Senior VP of Entertainment, Fedor Banuchi, sees this as a landmark event: “Hosting this fight highlights our commitment to world-class sports entertainment.”

Mayer’s Mindset: Ready for War
Mikaela Mayer (20-2, 5 KOs) has never shied away from a challenge. After ruling the junior lightweight division, she moved up to welterweight and dethroned Ryan in an action-packed first fight. Now, she’s focused on proving that win was no fluke:
“I could’ve moved on, but the fans want this rematch, and I’ll give them a fight to remember. I’ve been improving every day, and this time, it’s going to be even worse for Sandy.”

Ryan’s Redemption Mission
Sandy Ryan (7-2-1, 3 KOs), the 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist, is determined to reclaim her title. Despite the drama leading into their first fight, she remains confident:
“I fought with anger last time, and it affected my performance. This time, I’ll be prepared for anything. Mayer knows this is the biggest fight for both of us, and I’m coming to take my belt back.”

Norman vs. Cuevas: Welterweight War
Brian Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KOs) took over the WBO welterweight title after Terence Crawford vacated, and he’s eager to make a statement in his first defense:
“I know Cuevas is coming for my belt, but I’m going to put on a show and prove why I’m the champ.”

Cuevas (27-1-1, 19 KOs) isn’t intimidated:
“Fighting for a world title in Vegas is every fighter’s dream. I respect Norman, but a new champion will be crowned on March 29.”

Carrington vs. Vivas: The Road to a Title Shot
Bruce Carrington (14-0, 8 KOs) has been on a tear, earning highlight-reel knockouts and tough decision wins in 2024. A victory over Vivas (23-3, 12 KOs) would put him in prime position for a world title shot.

Vivas, known for his aggressive style, is ready for the challenge:
“I’ve been through wars in the ring, and this fight will be no different. Carrington is good, but I plan to make this a nightmare for him.”
