Three-time NBA All-Star Ben Simmons intends to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers after clearing waivers, according to league sources. This decision follows a contract buyout agreement with the Brooklyn Nets, effectively ending Simmons' tenure with the team.

Simmons' time with the Brooklyn Nets was marred by injuries and inconsistent performance. Acquired in February 2022 as part of a trade that sent James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers, Simmons struggled to maintain his previous All-Star form. Over three seasons with the Nets, he appeared in 90 games, averaging 6.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. These numbers were a significant decline from his tenure with the 76ers, where he averaged 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.7 assists over 275 games. Persistent back issues, including herniated discs and multiple surgeries, limited his availability and effectiveness, leading both parties to agree that a fresh start would be beneficial.
