The weight of being undefeated carries more pressure in boxing than in any other sport. When two fighters with spotless records face each other, you know it’s going to get personal and serious.
Junibert Bantay, one of the country’s fast-rising prospects, only turned professional in 2023 but has already stacked up nine straight wins. Over the last two years, he’s fought four times and even defeated opponents from Japan (Miyamoto) and China (Asihaer). Credit to his promoter for carefully building his record — but now, it’s time to step out of the comfort zone and into the Matrix.
Standing in his way is Lienard Sarcon, still regarded as one of the most promising Filipino boxers today. Sarcon remains undefeated with 13 victories, but his biggest challenge has been inactivity. While Bantay collected 10 wins since 2023, Sarcon has fought only three times, with his last fight taking place in 2024. There are no tune-ups here — training under Doc J of Omega Boxing Gym, Sarcon is jumping straight into danger after a long layoff.
💥 Powcast Forecast:
Expect a technical chess match between two skilled fighters. Neither is known as a one-punch knockout artist, so strategy will be key. Bantay should target the body to test Sarcon’s conditioning, while Sarcon — the more polished technician — should stay at mid-range and rely on his volume jabs and timing. This fight could come down to defense, ring IQ, and conditioning. The fighter with the sharper defensive game will likely prevail.
