The heat is on in San Luis Potosí as Rafael “El Divino” Espinoza (27-0, 23 KOs) defends his WBO featherweight world title against the dangerous Arnold Khegai (23-2-1, 14 KOs) at Arena Potosí. It’s a homecoming defense for the 6-foot-1 knockout artist from Guadalajara, who will be fighting on Mexican soil as world champion for the very first time.
Khegai, who has been waiting for his title shot since breaking into the WBO top 15 nearly three years ago, promises to come in hungry — and ready to silence the Mexican crowd.
“I’m happy to fight in my country and show the world my new tools,” said Espinoza. “Khegai is strong, but that motivates me even more to prove I’m ready for big things.”
“This is the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Khegai. “I’m coming to Mexico to ruin his homecoming.”
🔥 Co-Main Event: IBF Title Eliminator
In the co-feature, it’s an all-Mexican war between unbeaten Lindolfo Delgado (23-0, 16 KOs) and the always-dangerous Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela (31-4-1, 17 KOs) in a junior welterweight world title eliminator.
Delgado, known for his relentless pace and clean combinations, earned this shot after a gritty win over Elvis Rodriguez. Valenzuela, meanwhile, is out to redeem himself after a loss to Subriel Matias earlier this year — and he’s eager to shock fans with an upset.
🥊 Action-Packed Undercard
The undercard is loaded with Top Rank’s top prospects and rising stars:
-
Richard Torrez Jr. (13-0, 11 KOs) — the U.S. Olympic silver medalist — returns for a 10-round heavyweight bout against Czech veteran Tomas Salek (23-7, 14 KOs).
-
Emiliano Fernando Vargas (15-0, 13 KOs), son of boxing legend Fernando Vargas, moves up to his first 10-rounder against Jonathan Montrel (19-3, 13 KOs).
-
Julian “El Natural” Montalvo (4-0, 3 KOs), the 17-year-old prodigy from Las Vegas, aims to stay unbeaten in a 6-round junior lightweight clash.
💬 Bob Arum on the Card
“Rafael Espinoza is a unique talent — a 6-foot-1 featherweight with power in both hands,” said Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum. “San Luis Potosí is a great fight town, and fans will get to see future world champions in action.”
Powcast Take:
🔥 This is the can’t-miss Mexican fight night of the year — world titles, eliminators, and rising stars all in one card. Espinoza’s home defense against Khegai could turn into a war, while Delgado vs. Valenzuela screams fireworks.
