Bruno Tarimo Reunites with Dragon Fire Boxing, Eyes Big 2026 Comeback

Featherweight contender Bruno Tarimo is officially back under Tony Tolj’s Dragon Fire Boxing as he looks to reignite his career with a renewed focus and a fresh start in Australia.

Tarimo (29-5-2, 8 KOs) gained international attention after a breakout run in 2019, upsetting top Australian names Billy Dib, Joel Brunker, and Nathaniel May, which launched him into the global super featherweight rankings. His partnership with respected trainer Angelo Hyder and manager Tony Tolj cemented his place in the Australian and world boxing scene.

“Bruno is doing better than ever in the gym,” said Tolj. “He was lost for a while, but now he’s back, hungry, and has that Eye of the Tiger again. I haven’t seen this fire in him for quite some time. There’s going to be a new and improved, wiser Bruno Tarimo.”

Now based in Australia with his wife and children, Tarimo has found renewed motivation. “His focus was off the past few years—and understandably so,” Tolj added. “During COVID, he didn’t see his family for over two years. That kind of sacrifice takes a toll. But now that they’re together, he’s mentally and emotionally in a great place.”

After a 2021 loss to Zelfa Barrett at 130 lbs and a follow-up defeat to Yoshiki Takei, Tarimo rebounded with two straight victories back home in Tanzania. With his sights set on the featherweight division, Tolj and his team are confident that 2026 will be a breakout year.

“We’re planning a big 2026 for Bruno,” Tolj shared. “He’ll be campaigning at featherweight, which is his natural class. During the pandemic, he moved up to super featherweight because there weren’t enough fights available, but now that’s behind us. We want to get him active, back in the rankings, and eventually back in world title contention.”

Tarimo now trains alongside top Australian fighters like Jason and Andrew Moloney and rising prospect Jesse Wicks, becoming an integral part of the Dragon Fire Boxing family.

“Bruno’s been part of our big camps before, and he’ll continue to be,” said Tolj. “He’ll help Jason in his next fight on the Gold Coast and support Andrew in his IBF world title challenge. He’s world-class, and now that he’s settled, 2026 is going to be a standout year for him.”
