LeBron James called Philadelphia’s boos “amazing” after experiencing the largest comeback victory of his career.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s choice to leave a record streak behind, Tim Cone’s bench minutes and Dalton Knecht’s fresh start supply the other stories beyond the scores.

1. LeBron welcomes the boos, and Nurse trusts the group without him

LeBron James embraced the full Philadelphia experience in his first Sixers home appearance, including the boos that accompanied a dreadful first half. “Got the boos. That was amazing. And we deserved it,” he said afterward. The response gave his 29 point comeback against Cleveland a distinctly local character: the new arrival accepted the crowd’s criticism before celebrating its eventual roar.

The revealing basketball detail came from Nick Nurse. LeBron was on the bench throughout the decisive 15 to 0 fourth quarter run, and Nurse resisted interrupting a group generating consecutive stops and baskets. James still met his minutes target at 33. Philadelphia found a way to finish its historic rally while managing a veteran’s workload, with Jaylen Brown helping drive the closing stretch.

2. Shai lets 141 games end rather than chase three more points

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander needed three more points to extend the NBA’s longest regular season streak of games with at least 20. With 1:43 remaining and Oklahoma City ahead by 17, he instead chose to come out after seeing Denver make substitutions. His explanation was direct: “You always treat the game with respect.” The streak ended at 141 games, with Gilgeous-Alexander finishing on 17 points.

Mark Daigneault said he had been prepared to leave his star in, describing the record as a coaching dilemma. Gilgeous-Alexander settled it himself. That decision is the story fans miss if they only scan the scoring total: a record holder recognized the competitive situation and accepted its consequence, while his coach publicly appreciated the choice.

3. Ginebra gives its bench work before the San Miguel test

Tim Cone found room to use his bench while Ginebra built a 20 point advantage against Blackwater, Manila Bulletin reported. Troy Rosario supplied a tangible return from the reserves with 17 points and four rebounds. The finish became uncomfortable, but Ginebra secured third place in Group B and a best of five quarterfinal against San Miguel.

The matchup now replaces the qualification arithmetic in our earlier report on Ginebra’s push toward the playoffs. Jordan Murphy contributed 22 points and nine rebounds, while Rosario’s production gave Cone another source of offense. Powcast’s analysis: the next decision is how much of that bench contribution Cone can carry into a series against the Group A second seed, where each rotation choice will face repeated examination.

4. Knecht finds a new opening after his Lakers role shrank

Dalton Knecht has agreed to a two-way contract with New York, his agents told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Friday. The development gives the former Lakers first round pick a new route back into a rotation, days after the roster decision covered in Powcast’s report on Los Angeles waiving Knecht after its trade search.

Dave McMenamin’s ESPN report supplies the useful context: Knecht’s playing time fell from 19.2 minutes per game as a rookie to 10.2 last season, while his three point accuracy dropped from 37.6 percent to 34.2 percent. Those are two season samples, rather than a verdict based on one poor night. The fresh start offers an opportunity; his next meaningful progress will be earning a defined role.
