1. Martin’s title preference puts the Casimero debate in perspective
Winning at featherweight has not erased Carl Jammes Martin’s ambition at 122 pounds. At Tuesday’s PSA Forum, he said a super bantamweight championship remains the priority, although a featherweight title opportunity could persuade him to stay. The PSA pool report carried by Philstar also says he is open to a Picasso rematch, with his handlers determining the next move.
That sharpens the question in our October 30 coverage of Martin’s featherweight experiment. A successful move up gives him options; it does not settle his division or confirm an Inoue fight.
In his latest boxing update, published this morning, Pow Salud separates John Riel Casimero’s greater championship accomplishments from Martin’s current momentum. Pow credits the three division champion’s résumé but questions what fighting him would add to Martin’s immediate career plan. That is a matchmaking assessment, not a prediction that Casimero cannot win. Neither fighter has an announced agreement for this matchup.
2. Suarez’s proposed Lomachenko date raises a title-route question
Charly Suarez and Vasiliy Lomachenko are nearing agreement for February 13, BoxingScene’s Lance Pugmire reported Tuesday, citing officials connected to talks. Las Vegas is the target, but the venue remains unsettled. Bob Arum says the winner would move toward O’Shaquie Foster.
This advances the possibility discussed in our October coverage of Lomachenko’s comeback and Suarez option. The important complication is Suarez’s existing title claim: Pugmire reports he is already owed an immediate shot at Foster. A major name could bring a valuable opportunity, but it also adds another opponent before the championship. The reported date is not yet a formal fight announcement.
3. Trinidad meets a comeback shaped by fatherhood
Erson Trinidad faces more than a former champion tonight. Masataka Taniguchi told Nikkan Sports that the October birth of his son helped him through the difficult final weight cut as he prepared for his first fight since April’s world title defeat.
Trinidad initially weighed 100 grams over the limit before making weight on a second attempt, the November 3 report says. Taniguchi wants another title run but said he must win this comeback before naming bigger targets. For the Filipino, that makes the eight round assignment meaningful: he has a chance to interrupt a former champion’s rebuilding plans.
4. Benavidez praises Canelo’s skills but challenges his urgency
David Benavidez’s fresh Fight Hub TV interview contains a distinction the headline can miss. He calls Canelo Alvarez’s performance against Christian Mbilli good, while arguing that Canelo had enough advantages to press harder for a stoppage.
Interviewer Marcos Villegas offers the competing reading: Canelo boxed efficiently and controlled the fight on his terms. Both can recognize the win while disagreeing over risk. Benavidez’s argument is about what Canelo should have attempted; it does not establish that a knockout was available without cost.

Martin’s next move should serve the title route he wants. For Suarez, the key detail is how a proposed Lomachenko fight would affect the championship opportunity he has already earned.
