Kai Sotto wanting to play for Gilas is encouraging, but his commitment has never been the central question. Altiri Chiba releasing him and Kai being physically ready to compete are two separate matters.

The real question is whether his knee will allow him to play—and sustain the minutes and intensity Gilas needs. Willingness, club release, medical clearance and game readiness are different stages. One does not automatically guarantee the next.

Until his availability is confirmed, Gilas should prepare a complete game plan that can function without him: clear frontcourt roles, rebounding responsibilities and defensive adjustments. Those decisions need practice time; they cannot wait until the final roster announcement.

That uncertainty does not prove Kai cannot play. It is enough reason to prepare for the possibility.

Hope for Kai’s return, but build a team ready to win without him. If he is healthy and available, adjust from a position of preparation rather than dependence.
