It seems like the Denver Nuggets have started to accept that their superstar really doesn’t want to stay with them any longer.
Despite recently meeting with the franchise owner’s son, Josh Kroenke, All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony still insisted that he wants out of the Nuggets squad.
“Sources insist it’s no longer a matter of whether the Nuggets trade Anthony, but when, where, and for whom he’s traded for,” Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski writes in his artile dated August 26, 2010.
The high-scoring Anthony has been the heart and soul of the George Karl-mentored squad. He has helped turn around the team’s fortunes since donning blue and yellow jersey in 2003 — the same year his fellow Olympians LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh entered the league.
“The Nuggets made it clear to teams they want young players and draft picks for Anthony,” Wojnarowski notes, citing a statement from unknown league executives. ”The New Jersey Nets and Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as the two most probable destinations for Anthony because they have assets that appeal to Denver. The geography works for Anthony because of his wife LaLa Vazquez’s entertainment career.”
Rumors of Anthony thinking twice to agree to a three-year, $65-million extension with the Denver Nuggets emerged earlier, weeks after his fellow superstar and NBA Rookie Batch 2003 classmate LeBron James stirred controversy by deciding to suit up for Miami.
The buzz was fueled by speculations that the All-Star forward is reportedly eyeing to join forces with center Amare Stoudemire and New Orleans’ star point guard Chris Paul in Phoenix next season after Paul made a toast during Anthony’s wedding last July 10 — their own version of the “Big Three.”
