Early opinion on Tracy McGrady acquisition isn't pretty
So the Pistons have agreed to terms with seven-time All-Star Tracy McGrady on a one-year deal.
There's plenty of opinion about the deal within the Pistons fanbase and throughout the information superhighway, and to be quite honest, many aren't praising the pickup. One writer that did not sugarcoat his thoughts was Yahoo!Sports blogger Trey Kerby, who called the McGrady acquisition the final nail in the Bad Boys 2.0 coffin.
Look, taking a flyer on McGrady for the veteran's minimum isn't the worst thing of all-time. It's just kind of sad from every angle. Sad that the Pistons are the one signing McGrady, sad that McGrady isn't very good anymore, ...
Kerby's biggest contention: Try as he might, Tracy McGrady's just about done. He might have a game or two a month where he looks not terrible, but the Pistons aren't contending and should be developing young talent.
Another overriding thought remains how McGrady will fit in with Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Rodney Stuckey, Ben Gordon, Austin Daye and DaJuan Summers, who all play either shooting guard or small forward. Well, NBA.com's David Alridge reports the Pistons will try to "un-jam the log jam" the team has at the 2 and 3 spots.
